I wrote about the revenue the city of Los Angeles would be getting from Michael Jackson’s funeral earlier because the media kept reporting how it would be a tax burden. I thought the statements were extreme based on the fact that the city expected about 700,000 visitors. These visitors, fans, spectators all need hotel rooms, restaurants to eat at, stores to shop at, gas stations etc. Well since then, the mayor has come on tv and admitted the projected revenue will be high. Even with this knowledge, she is still begging fans for donations and at the same time reporting that,
Booked hotel rooms went up from 50% to 100% rooms booked out and they haven’t seen that in years in addition, the revenue from stores and restaurants.
Which was exactly my point.
