I wonder if this is just a first step or how the whole process works. Initially Pharrell said he would be getting skin grafts to get rid of his tat’s only to replace them with some new tat’s. Here’s all he had to say about it on his blog:

Lately there have been rumors that 50 Cent has removed his tattoos in an effort to to secure more movie roles. In an interview Lloyd Banks and Yayo responded:
“When you see him you’ll know,” said Yayo. “I tell you one thing, I heard that sh*t hurts more than getting a tattoo so I won’t be removing none of mine. But 50 started taking some of them off. If you look at his arms now you’re going to see it.”
