Tameka Foster found out about her divorce from Usher Raymond online just like everybody else. She lived with him, married him and is the mother of his two children but she found out by her friends calling her up asking “are you ok.”

“It was rumored (on the internet), so friends and family called, saying, ‘Are you OK?’ I didn’t really understand why,” Foster told People magazine. “But Usher and I weren’t really speaking then. He was away recording, and I was angry at other things going on. He filed two days later.”

The 38-year-old stylist has an issue with Usher’s new divorce-themed single “Papers,” which appears to focus on their short marriage.

“It’s entertainment. People shouldn’t take it literally,” she said. “(But) given what we’re going through, it’s in poor taste.”

Foster’s interview comes just days after she was forced to deny Usher’s claims the pair’s divorce had been finalized, dismissing them as “a publicity stunt” to promote his new song. But despite all of Ursh’s alleged cheating, “I still love him very much and I’m sure I always will,” Foster insists. “Do I want to be with him? I don’t know.”

Police later interviewed both Tameka and Usher — but determined there was no evidence or witnesses to substantiate Usher’s claim. But the drama didn’t end there — law enforcement sources tell us Usher called the cops on Tameka a second time several days later, complaining that Tameka again got onto his property and wouldn’t leave. By the time cops arrived, Tameka had already split.

Sooo a ridiculous rumor has emerged that the recent blog entry I wrote for the Huffington Post was plagiarized. Wow!! This is an unfounded insinuation that has no basis, merit or truth. I’ve never heard of this author or her book until Thursday afternoon. African-American women struggling with complexion issues is not a novel or an original topic. It’s an issue that has been written about for ages. Numerous African-American publications and online sites have addressed this topic. Even the Tyra Banks Show devoted an entire segment to it.

shared my personal story as a dark skinned woman in America, an experience that parallels millions of other Black women. Regrettably, this other author has no copyright (or patent) on the Black female experience. While I’m delighted to discover there is a new book with a similar theme available I only wish the author would have embraced our commonality as sisters in this struggle rather than opt for such a defamatory public recourse via a disreputable gossip writer. Approach is everything. Plagiarism is a serious implication that I’m extremely disheartened and insulted by. If this author can produce the same references in her book that I made to Alek Wek, poet Khalil Gibran, an experience in Brazil, disparaging public comments surrounding living as a “dark skinned” woman as well as scrutiny regarding her marriage to an R&B singer then perhaps she should seek legal counsel to handle this matter with the proper protocol.

ESSENCE.COM: Many are probably wondering why you’re choosing to speak now after Tameka endured a hailstorm of criticism for years.
NYEISHA DEWITT: Let me first say that I hope Tameka and Usher can salvage things as a couple. I’ve known Tameka since I was in middle school and she was in high school, and we’ve been friends since. It’s not that I have to defend her or speak on her behalf as if she’s done something wrong, but I simply want people to know everything they read about her isn’t true. It hurts me to read the lies that people write and say about her.

ESSENCE.COM: Is it true she first learned that Usher filed for divorce after reading about it?
DEWITT: She didn’t know that he was going to file. Of course, she knew that there were challenges in their relationship and had been some discord since March and was aware there were some things that needed to be worked through. But did she know that divorce was imminent? No. It was a total surprise.

ESSENCE.COM: To your knowledge, is it true that they’ve been separated for the past year?
DEWITT: That’s not true and there’s proof of that if people would take the time to do their research. I was at her birthday party that he hosted in Las Vegas this past January and he flew in all of her family and close friends to celebrate. When I read that people were reporting they’d been separated for a year I’m thinking, That’s insane!, because that would mean he left her when she was two months pregnant with Naviyd, and Usher Raymond, V, was only five months old.

ESSENCE.COM: Was Tameka also caught off guard by the images of Usher and Def Jam’s Grace Miguel?
DEWITT: I don’t know what it is or isn’t. What I admire about Tameka is that, despite all the gossip, she isn’t bitter or hardened by it. I don’t know how she does it especially with children [from a previous relationship] old enough to read the lies that are written. It’s like having to keep your hands at your side while someone repeatedly punches you in your face.

R&B star Usher’s estranged wife Tameka Raymond believes the superstar’s camp has been purposely smearing her during the couple’s bitter divorce battle. A source close to the couple spoke to RadarOnline.com exclusively about the behind-the-scenes turmoil including the truth about the DNA test rumors and how Tameka continues to wear her wedding ring. “[Tameka] is spitting mad against the campaign that has been waged against her just before Usher filed for divorce in Atlanta,” the source said. “He could have had the papers sealed but chose not to and stories were being leaked about the divorce two days before the papers were actually filed at Atlanta’s Superior Court. The source also pointed out some inaccuracies in the information that has been put forth about the couple’s split and relationship.

“Claims that they had been separated for around one year are just not true – they only split up around March of 2009,” the source revealed. According to other reports, Usher had requested DNA tests to see if he is the biological father of their 6-month old son Naviyd.

“Neither Usher or Tameka are seeking such tests as they both know that Naviyd is their son and despite everything that has happened she is still wearing his wedding ring,” the source added. The couple got married in August 2007 and have another son Usher Raymond V. While Tameka doesn’t hold ill will against her husband and “is not trying to prevent him from seeing her sons”, she feels that “she is up against a media machine in this divorce and is being portrayed badly by her estranged husband’s advisors.” The source also pointed out that Tameka was legally separated from her husband before she began dating Usher and was never operated on in Brazil since she had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. The source also denied that Tameka ever suffered from a heart attack.

Usher had responded with these harsh words:

Usher and Chilli were together for a long time and even after the break up she still had love for him. Now do I think she’s jumping arond in excitement,  no. News, the couple has been separated since July 2008—meaning that while he is seeking a divorce nearly two years after getting married, he and his estranged missus logged a mere 11 months together as husband and wife (loyal or otherwise) before going their separate ways. ”The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” read the documents, filed in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court.“There is no reasonable hope of reconciliation.”

That’s one opinion. Wonder what the detectives apparently hired to trail the singer think… The “Love in This Club” singer is seeking a full rundown of all documents his missus has kept during the course of their marriage, which began when the duo tied the knot in a quiet civil service Aug. 3, 2007. That includes tax files, paycheck stubs, bank account information and other financial records, insurance policies, real-estate rental agreements, medical records and automobile registrations. On the more personal—and potentially acrimonious—side of things, he’s also seeking copies of “notes, cards, letters, photographs, film, documents, tapes, voice recordings, gift, jewelry, clothes” or other evidence that reflects on Usher’s conduct during their marriage, as well as detective reports, photos or recordings that have resulted from either “surveillance or investigation” of her onetime better half. The latter request seemingly brings credence to rumors that Raymond had hired a private detective to trail Usher during their time apart. Making sure no stone is left unturned—or potentially leaked to the media, no doubt—he’s also requesting copies of “any and all diaries or personal notes kept…during the course of the marriage.” Finally, Usher is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their two sons together, 18-month-old Usher V and 6-month-old Naviyd Ely, saying the tots “are substantially dependent upon each party for support.” source

Time will tell if there’s love in this courtroom, but a lawyer for Usher’s suddenly estranged wife is making clear from the get-go that his client had no love for anyone other than the R&B star during their marriage.

“She’s a great mom,” Randy Kessler said. “She’s been a loyal wife. She’s trying her best to take the high road and not attack him.”

Indeed, perhaps looking toward a possible windfall settlement with the “Love in This Club” singer, nary a mean word has been uttered or even microblogged by Raymond. Which isn’t to say she’s ignored the topic completely… While Raymond, who has two sons with Usher and five overall, has so far refrained from actually mentioning the star by name on her Twitter page, she has occasionally gone there, acknowledging well wishes from fans concerned about the state of her union and posting the odd empowering or inspirational quote.

Usher filed for divorce from the “faithful wife and loving mother” on Friday, after nearly two years of marriage. The now ex-couple are parents to 18-month-old Usher V and 6-month-old Naviyd Ely.

Rumors of their increased estrangement began in February, when Raymond faced life-threatening complications from a liposuction procedure in Brazil. Kessler says Raymond is now back to fighting form, having fully recovered from the incident. “She’s doing fine,” he said. “She’s all healed. She’s just loving to spend time with her kids.”

He is a great father and just wants to do what is right for them.” The soon-to-be exes have two kids together, Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd, 6 months. And the insider says that it’s more than just talk — the divorce papers were filed in Atlanta this morning. The couple has faced problems in the past. In November 2008, In Touch reported that Usher was flirting with girls at a party in Miami, and even asked a model what she was doing afterward. And in February, In Touch revealed that although Usher flew to Tameka’s side after she suffered cardiac arrest from cosmetic surgery in Brazil, he “had no idea that she was there to have surgery.”
