Jay-Z ran the city on 9/11 and he put on one hell of a concert. The whole thing was powerful and very entertaining. The show was full of A-listers. His wife Beyonce performed, Mary J. Blige, Swizz, Pharrell, Kid Cudi, John Mayer played incredibly, Diddy assisted and of course Kanye West and Rihanna performed Run This Town. It was great!

Of course Amber Rose had to do something to get attention. She brought the cat eyes back out with this silver ensemble.
Oh and we can’t forget about Justin Timberlake who sat in the crowd for once and enjoyed the show with a big fat cold sore keeping him company.
Look at Justin looking like Woody Allen’s twin.

Jay-Z’ Blueprint 3 Expected to Sell Between 350,000-500,000 Units

Jay-Z’s new album “The Blueprint 3″ is on track to follow Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You” to the top of Billboard, with early estimates ranging between 350,000 and 500,000 units.

Meanwhile, more excerpts from Jay-Z’s O Magazine interview have hit the Internet.

The rapper was just 13 when he began selling crack in his Brooklyn neighborhood, but it never dawned on him that his situation was unusual, because those who became successful never returned to the projects to share his or her wisdom.

“If anyone made it, you never knew it,” the hip-hop artist, now 39, says. “That’s why I’ve always said that if I became successful, I’d come back here, grab somebody, and show him how it can be done.”

How do the younger rappers who attack Jay-Z feel when an “old head” out sells you, has better marketing, gets more press, has more hits than you, more classic records and albums than you, how do you justify an old head still having his finger on the pulse???????? How?

Jay and Bey’s Bodyguard is in the Clear

It was a collision course that couldn’t have been avoided.

Croatian authorities have opted not to bring charges against a bodyguard for Jay-Z and Beyoncé after he roughed up some paparazzi and purportedly damaged one shutterbug’s property.

Police in the medieval port city of Dobrovnik told TMZ that the guard was ordered to pay a fine but will not face legal action for allegedly going overboard in shielding the couple from having their picture taken by the snappers. Video footage of the encounter showed Jay-Z’s minder scuffling in an alley with several photographers who were staking out the rapper and his songstress wife as they left a restaurant and returned to their luxury yacht.
Three of the paps told police the guard threatened and manhandled them, while Jay-Z is heard in the background shouting, “Let’s go, let’s go, don’t worry about it” and “Stop stop stop.” The bodyguard later allegedly threw one of the photogs’ tripods into the Adriatic. source

So Oprah likes some rappers but not all rappers. Some rappers who have a beautiful package, like the husband of Beyonce Knowles, owner of basketball teams franchises and clothing labels and lets not forget an exploitable story like Marcy projects and a former hustler’s story. Oprah can look past the fault of some rappers but not all rappers. I’m still trying to figure out why Ice Cube hasn’t redeemed himself enough to be on her show. He’s a family man with about five children, married, making family movies but he was once in a group called “NWA.” It’s time for another voice on television for the younger people because I’m not a member of the Oprah fan club. Jay-Z always has the craziest marketing plans for his albums. These young boys can’t do that!

Recently The Game was on Twitter asking his fans if Jay was taking a stab at him in the following lyrics. They convinced him that Jay wasn’t getting at him but I think he was. Game your Twitter fam was wrong about this one.

Jay-Z did a radio interview with radio station 93.9 WKYS in Washington on June 8. The interview was press for the release of Blueprint 3 which will be released on September 11. But the people had more pressing questions, one main question they needed the answer to. What’s up with Jay-Z’s hair? Jay explained that it’s a ritual he usually does when he’s recording. He usually records quickly so the hair growth is minimal, this one has taken a while so you see the result.
“I know it’s an eyesore, but it’s working for the music,” he said with a laugh. At least he knows how it looks.

Autotune is an accessory—- the problems started when lame artists started making it the focal point of their music. Jay-Z Starting New Label at Warner Music

Jay-Z may be a free agent for now, but he’s in talks to cut a deal with WMG/Atlantic that could make him one of the richest and most powerful men in music (He already is). A well-placed industry source tells us that Jay – who recently left Def Jam as a recording artist (he served as its president from 2004-2007) – has been taking top-secret meetings with his old pals and former managers Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles. Topics of the hush-hush conversations have included giving Jay his own record label at WMG, tentatively to be called the Carter Music Group.

“Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends,” says our insider. “He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now – and very privately – is something finally starting to happen.”

Our source adds, “This is big in hip hop. These are three of the most powerful men in music, who might be working together, and there’s no question the success they’ll have as a team will be huge.”

WMG Vice President Cohen and Executive Vice President Liles also attempted to convince Jay to bring his Roc Nation label – which is part of the reported $150 million deal he cut with Live Nation – to WMG. Jay, however, has chosen to release his much-anticipated 15th album, “The Blueprint 3,” with Live Nation in the fall.

“Jay’s deal with Live Nation is massive,” says another music-biz insider. “But if he were to cut a deal with WMG/Atlantic, he’d make even more headlines. Jay-Z, Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles are all brand names. They’re the industry’s heavy hitters, and the combination would bring them a lot of attention. They would be unstoppable. Jay himself is the most successful rapper-turned-businessman out there.” Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) is a force to be reckoned with on his own. He reportedly bought himself out of his contractual obligations with Def Jam/Universal for a cool $5 million. A rep at WMG would not comment; Jay-Z’s team didn’t return calls

French Champagne brand, Cristal has already experienced a decline in sales after Jay-Z denounced the champagne publicly after some racial comments were made by their company. The recession, on top of this denouncement didn’t help the brand at all. Now Cristal is about to recieve another nail in the coffin from Russia.
State-owned Christall Vodka, a sister brand of Stolichnaya, has taken Cristal to court on the grounds that customers will be confused by the similarity. Russia’s copyright watchdog has ruled in favor of Christall, Russia Today reports; Cristal has said it plans to appeal.

The ruling is ironic given the fact that Cristal, which is produced by Louis Roederer, was first created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia while Christall Vodka is not even sold there. While Cristal only obtained its Russian license in 2006, however, Christall secured its copyright 30 years earlier.

In France, Christall Vodka lost a similar battle to Cristal, so some see the latest development as revenge. However, Christall’s parent company denies this and says it would be open to allowing Cristal to keep selling if they agree to pay (a lot) for the privilege.

I know there’s a recession and you might not be splurging like times in the past. However, everybody hasn’t tightened their pockets because their purchasing $500 bottles of champagne like never before. Every since Jay-Z’s boycott of Cristal, for racist statements directed at the hip hop community’s association with the brand, the companies sales have declined. Only to be replaced with Jay’s new champagne of choice, Armand de Brignac. Armand de Brignac also known as “Ace of Spades” is doing better than ever.

The company now reports it’s selling out of its entire production run. This is despite the fact that Armand de Brignac is made not by a big luxury house like LVMH, but an obscure little winery, that it’s only three years old, and that when it first appeared in one of Jay’s videos, people assumed that the shiny gold bottle with a big pewter label was too over the top to be real. “Certainly it is eye-catching,” says the brand’s commercial director, “but if we wanted Armand De Brignac to be a success then it had to be eye-catching.”

Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z has teamed with Parlux Fragrances to introduce two new perfume labels, one for rap star Kanye West and the other for R&B songbird Rihanna.

Additionally, Jay-Z, who is a principal of Iconix Fragrances LLC, will have the option to purchase up to 4 million shares of Parlux’s at $5 a piece. According to The Wall Street Journal, Jay-Z and an unnamed female singer are also close to finalizing a deal with Parlux. Parlux makes perfumes and accessories for Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, GUESS?, Nicole Miller, Natori, Queen Latifah, XOXO, Ocean Pacific (OP), Andy Roddick and others. In March of 2007, Iconix Brand Group purchased Rocawear from Jay-Z and Damon Dash for $204 million in cash, plus an additional $35 million dollars of Iconix stock to buy Rocawear. Jay-Z remains in charge of product development, marketing and licensing for Rocawear. Kanye West and Rihanna’s fragrances are due in stores in 2010.

ay-Z’s Rocawear’s mobile “Roc Pop Shop” store will return to New York City for a special four day engagement. Developed by David Ashen of D-ASH design, the Roc Pop Shop is a 50-foot long trailer that expands to 1000 square feet when opened. Doubling as a “mobile lounge,” Jay-Z envisioned the vehicle to represent his lifestyle experiences, and serve to keep the premium Rocawear line visible at Jay-Z concerts and events.

The retail store on wheels specializes in offering exclusive, limited edition products and Rocawear styles at “recession proof pricing.” From April 3-5, the Roc Pop Shop will be located at Gansevoort Square, located next to Manhattan’s Gansevoort Hotel on 18 9th Ave. On Monday April 6, the tour finishes in Jay’s native Brooklyn at Flatbush and 6th Avenue, located across from Atlantic Yard.
