Players and fans crowd the basketball court and fight after the Southside/ Abbeville high school game.

The game was the 2A Upper State Semi Final. Southside’s gymnasium was packed. So many people attended the game that some had to be turned away. People at the game describe the atmosphere as intense. The game was very competitive but in the end Southside won the game 61-55. But as the Tigers began to celebrate the fight started.

News 4 Sports Director Geoff Hart was at the game and says there was a lot of pushing and shoving just before players then fans started throwing punches. Hart described the fight as chaos, “tempers flared getting the better of the players and the fans.”
