Chris Brown continues to help the kids. First it was the Best Buddies Program now he’s reading to kids at a Harlem charter school. Brown was invited to Sisulu-Walker Charter School’s annual “Family Read Night.”

“I extended an invitation to all celebrities and politicians, and we had an acceptance by him,” said principal Dawn Cejas, who added the evening was geared to encourage students to read. Olubunmi Sonubi, a mother of Sisulu-Walker fifth-grader Ishola, said she was okay with a “second chance” for Brown.

“He can come even though he was arrested,” she said. “He’s coming to read to the children. He apologized on TV. Sometimes in real life we make mistakes.” source

Judge Praises Chris Brown’s Progress

Judge Patricia Schnegg learned today in court that Chris Brown hasn’t missed a session of domestic-violence counseling and has done 32 days of hard labor in his home state of Virginia.

She also cleared the 20-year-old R&B star to travel out of the United States in May and June for concerts. The exact locations weren’t disclosed. The judge’s comments came during a Thursday hearing during which she reviewed Brown’s progress with the terms of his probation. Brown was sentenced last year to five years of probation and six months of community labor for the February 2008 attack on Rihanna. I guess he shut her up…..

Chris Brown back in court today

Chris Brown will face an L.A. judge today — a judge who wants to know if Brown got his hands dirty enough to satisfy his probation on that felony assault conviction in the Rihanna case. I think this judge likes attention. Does she check up on every other criminal in her court room or just the high profile ones?
Sources say Judge Patricia Schnegg has been skeptical about the type of community service Brown has been performing in Virginia. She wants to make sure it’s true hard labor.

Brown and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, will go before Judge Schnegg at 2 PM PT today … and we’re told they’re armed with a list showing Chris got plenty dirty performing his community service — one of Chris’ specialties … cleaning brush off Virginia highways.

Ne-Yo is proving that he’ll do anything to sell records. He has taken it upon himself to put Rihanna and Chris Brown back in the headlines again. The singer is speaking out about domestic violence calling Rihanna and Brown’s fight from one year ago “unacceptable.” He is also donating money from his new single Heroes to the organization Respect! which aims to promote respect in relationships and end abuse.

Ne-Yo is promoting his new single by dragging Chris and Rihanna threw the mud again. A great way to gain press, promoting respect in relationships. What about respect for your peers Ne-Yo? Last year after this happened Ne-Yo said this about Chris Brown:
“I’m not going to crucify him. I’m not going to do that. That’s still my homeboy at the end of the day.”
Ne-Yo debuted the record yesterday (February 2) and he had this to say:
“What happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna was unacceptable, and we need to all work together and make sure it never happens again, to anyone.”
Rihanna has stated she doesn’t want to keep being interviewed about this, she wants to move on and so does Chris. Way to go Ne-Yo, such a great friend you are.

Walmart released the following statement Monday: “We are surprised at the comments online. All Walmart stores nationwide have carried the CD since its release, including the Wallingford store mentioned in the post. This store actually sold through its initial shipment over the weekend. The majority of our stores today are showing they do have copies available.”

Chris Brown is getting good reviews and reports from the courts. The court is the only review that counts right now. At Brown’s first checkup, Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said she had received “an extremely favorable progress report” on him from the probation department. Chris Brown is following all the rules of his probation and sentence. Judge Schnegg said he provided the court with DNA samples, paid all fines and court fees, performed more than 100 hours of community service and completed seven domestic violence classes to date. Chris Brown Ready for Counseling

While Chris Brown vows he’ll abide by all the conditions of his recent sentencing for assaulting Rihanna – including six months of community labor and five years’ probation – he’s eager to get the most out of the court-ordered counseling and anger-management classes.

“I want to understand my feelings,” Brown, 20, says. “I want to find out what really transpired as far as me that night. Sometimes when you’re young you don’t know how to express [your emotions], so I think it actually would be helpful to talk to a counselor or to somebody who has an expertise in what those [feelings] are.”

According to Brown’s Aug. 5 probation review, the R&B singer “has already looked into some domestic violence programs, showing that he is taking some initiatives to address this issue.”

Explains Brown: “I wanted to take the counseling upon myself and … just talk to someone. I just need to talk to someone. I wanted to understand the problem at hand.”

Brown tsays he doesn’t think he has an “anger problem,” but says he’s keeping an open mind. “If I do, I will work with my counselor and hopefully channel my anger into something like dancing,” says Brown, who insists he’ll never let himself lose control again. “I don’t think I would get that mad again. I want to be a man, so I have to be more responsible …. I’d rather walk away.”

I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris side in his time of need made this a little easier for us. Because of all your prayers God brought him through. I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. Chris Brown Sentencing Delayed

A Los Angeles judge postponed sentencing singer Chris Brown on Wednesday, saying she wants documents guaranteeing he’ll do roadside cleanup or other hard labor. Judge Patricia Schnegg told the R&B star that she doesn’t want him doing easy community service but rather 1,400 hours of “community labor” as his sentence.
“I do not favor community service,” said Schnegg, explaining that she wants to see Brown, 20, outdoors picking up trash or cleaning up graffiti.

Instead of jail time, Brown plea bargained for five years’ probation, 180 days of community labor and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling. The judge told Brown she was delaying his sentencing to Aug. 27 because she had yet to receive documents from the State of Virginia specifying the type of community labor he’ll be assigned. Dressed in a pink shirt and a charcoal-colored suit, Brown answered “Yeah” when asked if he agreed to the postponement. Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, appeared at the hearing to ask the court to ditch an order of protection barring Brown from coming within 50 yards of Rihanna. Etra did not get a chance to make the request Wednesday.

“We were obviously hoping that all proceedings would be concluded today. We’re just going to have to wait until Aug. 27,” said Etra, adding that Rihanna “is doing great.”

Chris Brown and Amber Rose were apparently responsible for some of the fireworks this past 4th of July weekend. Brown and Rose locked lips at the July 4 White Party thrown by Sean (Diddy) Combs and Ashton Kutcher in Beverly Hills, spies told the Daily News. Chris Brown came to the party with Teyana Taylor but quickly hooked up with Amber Rose. “Diddy announced the deejay would do a tribute to Michael Jackson,” said a guest. “Chris did an amazing impression of Michael’s moonwalk. It wasn’t long before he was dancing with Amber.” Later, as the party wound down, the pair nestled on a couch in the backyard of the Beverly Hills mansion. “They were holding hands and making out in the shadows,” said a witness. “She had her hand on his leg.” They all later went to an after-party at the club Guys. There, Brown again got upclose and personal with Rose, who is 26. “They were kissing on the dance floor in front of Teyana,” said a witness. “But he and Amber left separately.”

Al Sharpton is the reason Chris Brown Didn’t Perform

Chris Brown was a no-show at Sunday night’s BET Awards because producers pulled his performance at the last minute. According to several insiders, Brown’s appearance was considered risky business on a night honoring Michael Jackson. The “No Air” singer is facing negative publicity after pleading guilty to the February assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
One source says Brown’s absence came at the insistence of the Rev. Al Sharpton. “Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris,” says our insider, who adds that Jay-Z also had a hand in the decision. “Jay is a big name in the BET community, and he was very vocal about his displeasure with Chris attending the ceremony. He didn’t want Chris anywhere near the awards so close to the court’s ruling.”
Chris isn’t taking the public dis on the chin, either. “He’s furious,” a pal of the singer tells us. “BET asked him to perform and waited until the last minute to tell him it was off. He’s pretty shocked and outraged right now.”
Both BET publicists and Brown’s camp say the singer was never confirmed for the show.

Rihanna Chris Brown think Stay Away Order is Ridiculous

Chris Brown is under court orders not to go within 50 yards of Rihanna, but both he and his ex want to get rid of the strict no-contact clause.
“They think it’s unnecessary and ridiculous,” says a mutual pal of the protection order handed down at Tuesday’s criminal proceeding, during which Brown pled guilty to one count of felony assault in the February attack that left Rihanna battered and bruised. “After [the proceeding], Ri and Chris talked on the phone for almost an hour and really worked at becoming friends. They’re solid now.”

Chris Brown Plea Deal he gets 180 days Diversion Program 5 Years Probation

Chris Brown, 20, was facing up to 4 years and 8 months behind bars but today he and his lawyers have brokered a plea deal in his assault case. He’ll spend 180 days in a labor diversion program in Virginia. In the diversion program he’ll be picking up trash or cleaning graffiti for 8 hours a day. He will also get 5 years of supervised probation for felony assault that he pled guilty for. He must check in with the courts every three months and enter a domestic violence counseling program. Chris arrived in court first with his mother. Rihanna’s lawyer arrived and she followed later. You could tell that a deal was on the way because the judge allowed camera’s to come inside the courtroom, they had previously been banned.
