Kanye West delighted fans at an emotional show in New York City on Tuesday night by bringing hip-hop mogul Jay Z onstage to perform with him. West played a set at the Museum of Modern Art’s annual Party in the Garden and was in an reflective mood as he addressed the audience and lamented his recent tough times. He told the crowd, “Thank you for loving me when they told you not to love me. I’m sorry about anybody out there that had to fight for me. Do you know what it feels like to be hated, do you know what it feels like to be degraded?”
West also spoke about the sad loss of his mother Dr. Donda West, who died in 2007 after suffering complications from cosmetic surgery, saying, “I know she’s smiling down.”The rapper continued with his set and later lifted the mood and sent the crowd into a frenzy by introducing Jay Z to the stage. The hip-hop stars performed their track H·A·M before teaming up on Jay Z’s hit single, Empire State of Mind, according to the New York Times.
