It’s a drug bust plot right out of Montel Williams‘ old daytime talk show. Except the ex-host has the starring role.

The 54-year-old was caught red-handed with a pipe believed to be used for smoking pot at the General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee on Tuesday. The pipe, which was in his carry-on bag, set off the metal detector as Williams passed through security.

Sources told TMZ there was no residue in the pipe.

The Milwaukee County sheriff’s office said Williams paid the $484 citation and was eventually released to continue on with his travel.

Williams, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999, has been a vocal supporter of medical marijuana. He claims it is the most effective way to treat his chronic pain.

Seven years ago, Williams was fined $100 when he was busted with similar drug paraphernalia at a Detroit airport.

Nina Shaw, Williams’ attorney, did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.

But the ex-host posted a link to an article about the drug bust on his Twitter page shortly after the incident.

“I made it on TMZ — Can you believe this?” he wrote.
