Rihanna pimps her story and still can’t sell records

hard
Rihanna pimped her story out to ABC and chose to exploit her altercation with Chris Brown all in an effort to sell records. Well, it didn’t work so well. RiRi’s Rated R is pushing about 180-200,000 units. After all the press, publicity, sex talk, sexually explicit moves, provocative clothing and images and endless press—-she’s only going to sell 200,000 records. Was it worth it? I mean 200,000 isn’t chump numbers but for an established artist at the top of her game, coming off her previous successful albums, its definitely disappointing. The label put a lot of money and power behind Rihanna’s release. Its a 4th quarter release, with hopes of bringing them in the black, not the numbers they wanted at all!

Meanwhile, across the pond Susan “frumpy” Boyle is going to sell around 650,000 units while Adam Lambert will sell around 220-230,000 and Lady Gaga’s release of Fame Monster EP to sell about 190-200,000 sales. Rihanna should have brought Chris Brown on stage during one of her performances, she probably would have sold more records….
