Oprah Speaks on Longtime Lover Stedman
Oprah Winfrey reflected on her closely guarded relationship with news anchor, Monica Pearson:
“Had we made the official marriage commitment, we wouldn’t still be together. The reason the relationship works is that we get to define it on our terms. It would be very different if we were in a ‘traditional’ relationship where I was expected to be a wife and every now and then cook a meal!”

On October 2, 2009 at 12:55 pmI am surprised that Oprah thinks that marriage would not have worked for them…that traditionally she would have had to “a wife and every now and then cook a meal!” There IS no difference, really, to being a live-in lover and a wife. They SHOULD be one and the same. MY problem is that she is NOT the proper role model for black girls. They do not marry but have many babies with many different men, and so are drains on Welfare. Oprah, I’m very disapointed in your decision NOT to marry! Shame on you! Marry him and DON’T cook him a meal every now and then! Today, working wives DON’T cook anyway! I wish she’d realize just HOW influencial she is to black women everywhere, and DO BETTER for herSELF, AND for them!

On November 7, 2009 at 8:31 pmThat’s crazy!!! Oprah Winfrey IS a great role model for black women/men boys/girls! Matter of fact just ppl in general! That was an ignorant comment to make bcus she has NOT set an example that says its okay to have kids out of wedlock…she has lived her life well and has given a great amount back to the world and ‘our people’- Is she human??…yes.- which is y we all make mistakes, but she didnt make em @ the expense of anther person’s life and well- being. I commend her for that! You should try to pay more attention to the ‘truth’ staring you right in the eyes-
